Frequently Asked Questions
How much does therapy cost?
$130 for individual sessions and $180 for couples/family sessions.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, we accept Aetna, United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar Health, Avmed, Cigna, and Curative.
I really want to work with one of your therapists. What options do I have if you don’t accept my insurance?
If you’d like to work with us but we don’t take your insurance, you have the option to use out-of-network benefits. Please call your insurance company and ask about your out-of-network benefits, as they typically reimburse 50–80% of our fee. Often, the cost is similar to going in-network. If you decide to use out-of-network benefits, you would pay our practice directly for sessions and we would provide you with a monthly statement to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What are the pros and cons of using insurance vs. paying out of pocket?
How much you pay out of pocket is not the only difference between using insurance and paying privately for therapy. Clinically speaking, insurance companies often have requirements that may not always align with what a client needs most.
Insurance can still be a good option for clients experiencing symptoms that meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis, provided they are comfortable with insurance companies potentially requesting copies of notes or records and are okay with a limited number of weekly sessions. Private pay allows us to provide the highest level of confidentiality because we are not required to share information with insurance companies without your consent. If privacy is especially important to you, private pay may be the better option. It’s also the best fit for clients who do not currently meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis and are primarily seeking personal growth or self-improvement, or for clients wanting to attend sessions more than once per week.
